Mount directly on the housing of the target component for accurate readings.

Minimize the vibration transmission path — the distance between the vibration source and the sensor.

Avoid mounting on flexible or resonant surfaces, such as sheet metal covers, which can oscillate and distort measurements.

Vibration attenuates up to 75–90 cm (30–36") from the source.

Attributes of the vibration transmission path that can reduce the transmission path length include:

The number of mounting surfaces, which can cause signal reflection.

Materials like rubber or plastic can absorb vibration and reduce accuracy.

⚠️ Treon Industrial Node C sensors measure vibration on three axes (X, Y, Z). These axes are marked on the sensor body. You do not need to align a specific axis with the machine’s vibration direction.

Place sensors close to the primary vibration source. For gearboxes, consider how vibration transmits through connected components. For bearings, position the sensor near the load zone (the area under the most stress).

ℹ️ The shortest distance to the vibration source is not always the best location. Consider how vibration travels through the machine structure.

Any part of the base can serve as a contact point, but for accurate readings, the contact area should be at least 30 x 25 mm. For best results, center this contact area over the mounting location. The circular aluminum element at the center of the base transfers heat directly from the asset’s surface to the internal temperature sensor.

Identify the optimal location and orientation on the asset for effective monitoring, then mount the sensor at that spot. To install the sensor, you will need to purchase an industrial adhesive. We recommend cyanoacrylate-based adhesives such as Loctite 454, Loctite 3090, Loctite 4070, or a similar product.

For flat and smooth surfaces, a thin layer of adhesive like Loctite 454 is sufficient.

For curved or uneven surfaces, apply a slightly thicker layer of adhesive such as Loctite 3090 or Loctite 4070 to ensure a secure bond.

If you are uncertain of where to mount your Treon Industrial Node C sensors, see our article on Positioning a sensor.

⚠️ Warning: When installing sensors, ensure you review and comply with all relevant safety regulations. You are solely responsible for the safe installation of the sensor on any equipment or machine component. Mounting the sensor requires the use of an industrial adhesive. Always follow the safety and handling guidelines provided by the adhesive manufacturer.

For more information about the recommended adhesive, see the technical information:

To mount a sensor

To mount a Treon Industrial Node C sensor, follow these steps:

Surface preparation:
Thoroughly remove all oil, grease, and debris from the surface where the sensor will be installed.

Sensor glueing:
If the surface that you’re mounting the sensor to is flat and relatively smooth, apply a thin layer of adhesive such as Loctite 454 to the bottom of the sensor, maximizing the area that will be in contact with the asset.

If the surface is rounded or somewhat uneven, apply a slightly more liberal layer of adhesive such as Loctite 3090 or Loctite 4070 to the bottom of the sensor. The layer of adhesive can bridge distances of up to 5 mm between the surface and the sensor if necessary.

Hold the sensor:
Hold the sensor to the mounting location on the machine part for 30 seconds, pressing firmly.
If you’re mounting the sensor on a curved surface, put a small amount of additional adhesive on each side for better contact between the sensor and the surface. Based on the surface and the adhesive used, your results should look similar to the following.

Success:
Your Treon Industrial Node C sensor has been successfully glued to an asset and is ready for use!

When the device is powered on and provisioned, it starts automatically to measure and transmit data.

The Treon Industrial Node C uses wireless Bluetooth connectivity to transmit sensor values to a gateway. The data is sent via the gateway to the Treon Connect cloud backend, for analysis or delivery to other systems.

Commissioning a sensor attaches it to an asset in your Treon Connect environment.

For commissioning a sensor you need an NFC-capable smart phone and the Treon Connect app, and you need to be in close proximity to the sensors you want to commission.

1. Turn on NFC on your phone

To enable NFC on an Android device, go to Settings > Connected devices > Connection preferences > NFC, then toggle the switch to On. Once activated, the device can exchange data with other NFC-enabled devices or tags when they are nearby.

2. Start the Treon Connect app

To start the Treon Connect app, simply tap its icon from your Android device’s home screen or app drawer.
